| Painter, lithographer. Born in Oahu, HI on Nov. 28, 1891, Mabel Alvarez moved with her family to California in 1906.Settling in Los Angeles, she studied with James E. McBurney, William Cahill, Stanton MacDonald-Wright, and MorganRussell. An advocate of modern art, she did work tha includes figures, still lifes and portraits.
